Federal Creek drains a 145 square mile area in Athens, Morgan and Washington Counties. The Federal Creek Watershed is affected by erosion, illegal dumping of solid waste, sewage, the lack of streamside forests and acid mine drainage. A citizen group is meeting regularly to identify assets and build community involvement to address these issues. Federal Creek is reviving its community group and has a planning committee of ten residents who are designing landowner education events to occur in the summer and fall of 2008.
