The Monday Creek Restoration Project (MCRP) is a partnership of government agencies, educational institutions, non-profit organizations and local residents committed to the renewal of the Monday Creek ecosystem. The waters of Monday Creek have been severely damaged by acid mine drainage, sedimentation and nutrient enrichment. The restoration strategies of MCRP are geared towards healing this damage by taking a bioregional approach - realizing the interconnectiveness of systems within and outside the Monday Creek Watershed.

The Monday Creek watershed encompasses a 116 square mile area in portions of Perry, Hocking and Athens counties in Appalachian Ohio. Monday Creek itself is 27 miles long, with two major tributaries, Little Monday Creek and Snow Fork. The watershed is rural, with only four incorporated villages and a portion of the city of Nelsonville falling within the watershed.
