Our Mission Statement

Rural Action Sustainable Agriculture is committed to building a strong and lasting farm economy in Appalachian Ohio. We focus on capacity building through producer and consumer education, developing local markets, and resource networking. Community partners are central to our work, and include producer alliances, OSU extension, public institutions, and other non-profit organizations.

We aim to connect producers with the educational resources they need, and with any and all potential markets. It is our goal to connect farm product users, such as Ohio University, with local producers. We also work to facilitate connections between producers that allow for peer education and working alliances.

Rural Action Sustainable Agriculture works to increase the long tern economic sustainability of the Appalachian agricultural community through three main program focuses:
