Through our youth programs, Appalachian Ohio young people become an integral part of the region's community revitalization process. Youth-led after school and summer activities integrate environmental education, service learning, and leadership development.

  • 150 youth in the Trimble Middle School are actively engaged in service learning activities, raising money for needed sports equipment, creating a cook book of nutritional after school snacks and learning about the watershed in which they live. (Youth Act)
  • Youth in the community of Stewart helped clean a church that was damaged by flooding (Youth Act )
  • 31 youth participated in an exciting hands-on watershed day camp for a week in July 2008. (Sunday Creek)
  • Youth in the Amesville area grew vegetables for their families' use, donated to area food banks, and prepared meals from the harvested produce as well selling vegetables at a roadside stand. (Youth Act Ag)
  • 10 Amesville youth led the community to provide additional recreational equipment in the town park. They held a yard sale with donated items and worked with the village council to guide the project. (Youth Act)
  • Over 150 Trimble Township youth created art and organized an art exhibit, "Youth Art on High Street," in two empty storefronts in the Village of Glouster. This is the first step in the community's downtown revitalization process. (Sunday Creek Youth Act)
  • 30 at Trimble High School used the Land Lab for outdoor education activities initiated by the students (Sunday Creek)
  • Southern Perry Miller High School Vo-Ag Students volunteered there time and skills in a tree planting at Sunday Creek Rogers Hollow Reclamation site. (Sunday Creek)
