annual report 2004

Our Mission is to promote economic, social and environmental justice in Appalachian Ohio.
We Envision a region of clean streams, healthy forests, thriving family farms, meaningful jobs for everyone and lively towns that remember local history and celebrate their stories.

From the Executive Director

Welcome to A Tour of Rural Action, the 2004 Annual Report!

From the rolling hills to the creeks that we restore; from the farmers and landowners we support to the children and adults we educate, you will be amazed at Rural Action’s work throughout Appalachia.

In this annual report, we invite you to tour our organizational and program accomplishments and recognize the people, funders and partners that made it all possible. As you can see from the map inside, we worked hard in 2004 to renew our communities and expand our reach in the 29 Appalachian Ohio counties and the 13 Appalachian states.

Rural Action, in conjunction with those we serve, strives to bring resources and people together to promote culturally rich communities with healthy environments and thriving economies. Whether you plant a tree, clean litter from a stream, hike a trail at the Research and Education Center or attend a meeting or workshop, you will always find dedicated staff, VISTAs, volunteers and partners working together to meet that vision.

So sit back and explore Rural Action and our work over the past year, and be assured this road map is just an introduction and an invitation to the great work Rural Action is doing!

We hope that you’ll join us on our journey in 2005, and we thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Jane Forrest Redfern
Executive Director
